Ok so now I want a 22 rifle. I love my buddy's 22 with custom barrel and stock, but I also like the little AR looking 22s that seem to be all the rage lately.

I'm figuring to buy and build a 10/22 I will be looking at around 500-600.

I can buy the sig, ruger, colt, or similar 22lr AR type rifle for less than 600 as well.

Do the AR types give good out of the box accuracy? I'm not gonna be competing, but I will be plinking and maybe use it for pest control out at the farm. Possibly ...

Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc. has announced the introduction of the Ruger® SR-22TM Rifle, an autoloading, rimfire rifle that takes the 10/22 action and puts it, 10-round rotary magazine and all, into an extremely modern all-aluminum chassis custom manufactured by Nordic Components. Finish was parkerized and not as nice looking as aftv2005's nickel finished one though. Had no fitting problems. Went in just fine. No jams or hang ups using off the shelf bulk Federal 36 gr. HP ammo that you get at walmart. Shoots fair. About as good as my ruger 10/22 which probably has more to do with the barrel than the conversion unit. Its amazing it shoots decent at all since the bullet ...

I found out a month or so ago, on this forum, that suppressors are legal in MS. Now, I am saving my money to make the purchase, and researching which model to purchase. The Walther P22 is probably the easiest and least expensive to suppress, and the grip is small enough, my five year old could learn to shoot with it. However, I find the 22/45 to be much more comfortable to me. What is the best way to suppress the 22/45? Will I have to buy a complete upper half? Also, how much velocity gain ...

Looks a little rough but should clean=up nicely. Bore looks to be near perfect. This is the second one I purchased through CMP. The first one looked as if it had never been used ... This one should clean-up nicely ... may try to go to the range this afternoon and see how she groups.

I was able to pick one up at the gun show for $200 which seems to be a good deal as there was one more there that was $450. Took it home gave it a good cleaning(needed real bad) took it out and shot it about 50 times with no hangups or misfires. At 25 yrds with open sights I could shoot 5 shot groups that you could cover up with a nickel. This will be my second one to add to my gun case,I have had the other for about 25 years and I love it. My Q is, was this a good price on this gun?

I have been a fan of the Ruger 10/22 rifle for many years. Ruger has decided to make the trigger guard of polymer as well as the trigger and sear parts. The sear is plastic and has a steel insert that contacts the hammer notch. This setup makes for a spongy trigger pull. This makes for a changing trigger pull as compared with the 10/22 rifles made with aluminum alloy trigger guard and parts. We bought 5 Ruger 10/22 carbines for our Junior Club and they were all rifles with polymer trigger guard ...

Are the aftermarket trigger jobs any good?

Volquartsen Trigger Guard Assembly 2000 Ruger 10/22 Black

http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=736286

and are that easy to put in? is there any mods needed?

Mk III Hunter

Who can do the trigger job around Brandon? Besides the local gunsmiths(Tierce,Swanns)

Is there a drop in like the 10/22 or what are my options?

Most of my shooting is punching paper at ranges in competition. The pistol competition is NRA Outdoor Conventional Pistol (Bullseye). The rifle competition is CMP rf Sporter rifle and .22 rf Silhouette Hunter Rifle. I also help Junior Shooters with NRA 3 Position 50 yard .22 rf Rifle.

Through out the years I have strived for the best performance in our firearms. There is no clear answer to finding the best .22 rf ammo. It depends on the individual rifle or pistol, which brand and type ammunition ...

This topic could go on for months. Why? Because every firearm shoots every round differnetly and some better than others. I have a Kimber made in Clakamas that would shoot one hole groups at 50 yds from the bench if I was using Winchester Super X Long Rifle Hollow Points. I found a box that shot better thanothers and went back to Ralph's shop and bought everything he had wiht that lot number. Squirrels trembled when I left the house.
