New Army Carbine?
The Army Times was quoted in the NSSF weekly brief as reporting that the Army has requested nearly $10 million from Congress to start solicitations for firearms competition to begin acquisition of a new carbine. The current carbine is the M4. If approved, the first round of tests may kick off as early as late in the summer of 2010 and last for around a year.

BUIS Recommendations?

I want to beef-up one of the M-4 Bushmasters I have. It currently has an EOTech 512 sitting on it. I want to add the EOTech 3X mag and a set of BUIS (back-up iron sights). The EOtech 3X will be the side flip type. One of my problems is that the forward handguard has no top rail to mount a front BUIS on it. Any recommendations on how I can attached a front BUIS on this weapon and what manufacture recommendations do you have for the rear and front BUIS?

Ok I have a guy who wants to trade me his almost new Socom 16 for my Sig 556.What do you all think should I do it. Both guns are about equal in price and in the same condition. I'm kinda stuck on whether or not to trade. I like the Sig but have AR's to fill the 5.56 notch. I've been considering getting a M1A in the Scout Squad configuration or a DSA SA58 Tactical Carbine for sometime now and this Socom 16 would put a end to my wanting a good go to 7.62x51 Rifle. I should have never sold my AR10 ...

In process of finishing my RRA AR in 9mm SBR. Waiting on the paperwork to get back at this point so I can go ahead and get the upper here. Curious if anyone else out there has one and can comment on loads for it. I have been told that the 147 grain load I shoot in IPSC is perfect for it. Just wondering if anyone else had one. My SBR will have the 7" bbl.

Couple of Pics of the lower that is patiently awaiting for it's other half...... will have to coat the upper once it arrives ...

I am looking into buying another AR type rifle and don't know which one to choose.
I had a Bushmaster XM-15 that was fairly accurate but it felt really loose like an AK.
Just felt like it was cheap but I sold it and made around $200 from it.
Checked the prices on bushmaster and they are more expensive than armalite.
Anyone have any suggestions?

AR-15 Prices are ????

Looks to me like every time the news mentions "assault rifle", like this morning, the asking price of ARs goes up another hundred bucks!

Gun sales, especially those Pol. Incorrect black guns, went through the roof before the Clinton Ban, and seems like the same thing is going on now, with no ban pending (yet).

Anybody got a real Colt AR-15 they want to sell fast?

Yesterday I received my 6 - Double Star AR lowers from Centerfire Systems (that I ordered last week). The cost was $100 each plus shipping. They look GREAT, and I got six consecutive SNs.....

This is just a HEADS-UP to any of you AR builders that are waiting on your "long past" orders to be shipped. I checked again tonight and the D.S. AR lowers are still IN STOCK @ $100.

MAN.... ARs are SO MUCH easier to build than AKs. But AKs were much cheaper to build...... ...

Way back when, 1967, I saw an ad in a magazine, company in Phoenix selling a new carbine they were manufacturing, called it "Spitfire". The picture showed it looked just like a Tommy-gun! I sent them $92.50 plus shipping, and about 2 weeks later I got home from work, checked for the mail, and there was the box, left between the storm door and front door of our house in Chicago. Delivered by R.E.A. (Railway Express Agency), they were that era's UPS.

Deal went down, it was brand-new in a box from Brownell's. Found the following write-up last night, for anyone interested. The appearance of the H.S. is exceptional, nice consistent finish, lock-work is crisp and acceptable, IMO.

Here is the front page of an old R.P.B. sales brochure I saved years ago. Interesting the stuff they were offerring, as legislation coming up was slowly driving them out of business. Historically, I believe R.P.B. shut down, then was re-organized in Texas by yet another company. Some of you may know more certainly about this, I'm going by foggy memory.

Living in Vegas in 1975, I heard of a guy who collected, and occasionally sold, old Thompson submachineguns, so I went out Charleston Blvd. to his business, a Realty Sales Office. His gun hobby, or business, was Vegas Gun Traders, I believe. Had an appointment to see him, his name was Ron Rudin, he was cautious, but confirmed that, yes, he had a few Thompsons.
