My smith thinks pretty highly of these barrels for 1911's. These are not drop in barrels, he said if the gun cant shoot 1.5inch groups at 50yards with these barrels something is wrong. Anyone have any dealing with them/heard about them.

I finally got a email back from a smith that does finger grooves he told me the cost was between 800-1500 to have this done! I almost shidabrick! After he told me how it is done I can see this as being very very labor intensive. He welds on small bricks of metal, machines them down, then he starts with a grinder shaping the finger groove fallowed by hours of buffing. Since I am only wanting one groove and not three I am hoping my cost will be 66% cheaper lol but I doubt it. I want this done ...

My plans where new slide and barrel down the line then just the little stuff hammer, grips, mag release, durocoat it.

lets here it what you got, is anyone wanting to sell theirs in a few months

Ok, so lately I have been thinking about buying me a wheel gun. I want to use it in ICORE mainly. The ones that have been catching my eye have been these

they are pricey about 1k +/-. I have been told to think about the 7 shot versions that are not performance center additions and have all the work done to it I need to run in ICORE.. a 45acp revolver has been on my mind alot just because I have tons of supplies for a 45 and I wont have to tool up for another cal. NSSF also reported on a case discussed in Texas Lawyer Magazine. It seems that, on August 20, 2009, a judge declined to assess liability to S&W in the case of Foltz v. S&W Corp. This is the .460 Magnum case that is apparently been appearing here and there on the internet. Roger Foltz, plaintiff, was shooting his S&W .460 Magnum in 2006. It seems he placed a finger forward on the frame to steady the revolver and, upon firing, amputated ...

I went to Atlanta to visit my brother last week and he convinced me to take my G-23 over to the GLOCK HQ in Smyrna (less than 10 miles from his house). I told him I did not have any issues and he said it did not matter. They would clean and inspect for FREE. Well that was all I needed to hear and was on my way. I checked and cleared it at the guard shack and was told where to take it. I turned it ...

I went to the farm today. I practiced using some different methods than my normal two handed, stationary shooting.

I put a few mags through shooting one handed with my right hand. I did ok getting in a paper plate most of my shots.

Then I started at about 25-30 feet out and walked toward the target dumping two mags and stopping at about 5 feet with the last couple shots. I must say that was most difficult. Until I got to within 5-10 feet I didn't hit the plate at all!

I was at the range with a buddy on Friday. We shot a bunch of different stuff, AR's, a few singleshots and assorted 22s. When we moved the targets to 25 for the handguns I opted for my Sig 220 and Beretta 92. Average groups from both, nothing to brag about. He was shooting a 22/45 and his MP 40. After a few boxes through them we put clean targets up and he handed me his MP. I emptied a magazine into about two inches offhand. That is the best shooting I've done in many years.
In my line of work, I get to chat with a lot of Securitas Security Guards.

I shoot the bull with them a lot and kid them sometimes about the guns they have.

I ask them about what they carry and they say they have no choice in their carry weapon.

Most carry a large 357 mag revolver loaded with 38 specials. I ask them how often they shoot...I get funny looks...Most have not shot their duty weapon in years. When I've asked to see it...the weapon is dirty and full of lint etc.

I was out shootin my new XDM-9 the other day tryin different grip methods ( trying to get used to a non 1911 type ) . Has anybody ever shot w/ their index finger under the slide and their middle finger on the trigger , I know how to shoot the right way but for some reason I felt like I was shooting more accurately like this. It's kinda like pointing at the target. By the way I don't plan on shooting like that I was just goofing off what do yall think ?

I aquired a Star Super P .45 atuo yesterday. It was made in the middle 60's and is like new. It is an interesting design as although the pistol looks like a 1911 Colt, it is quite different in several ways:

1. Takedown lever on right side of the pistol

2. Barrel lockup like a Browning HP

3. Backstrap is not removeable

4. Trigger is hinged

5. The safety can be applied with the hammer down.

6. The safety pulls the hammer back away from the sear

7. It has Tritium ...

Had to get me a new pistol today. My 1911 is not approved for carry for my other job at Loomis armored truck. I had narrowed it down to an XD or (gasp!) a GLOCK 22.

The XD won out.

The Springfield XD in .40 S&W with a 4 inch barrel. I picked up a BLACKHAWK! Serpa level II holster, and a box of Ranger 165 gr. ammo to feed it while carrying "on duty".

Got to do some shooting with it now! Gotta hate that…

Hi everyone, I have a friend who is getting a job with a law enforcement agency in AL. and he told me none of his handguns qualify for carrying because in a semi-auto handgun, they require it to be both SA & DA and they require it to have a decocker, he owns pretty much the same as I do, a 1911 and a Springfield XD.

It also has to be a minimum of 9mm and although .45 cal. guns qualify, they are not recommended and it has to be atleast considered 4" long or longer.

How much benefit would +p loads be to me in a snub nose revolver? My dad says that its not worth the extra money because a 2" barrel will only gain so much velocity before it leaves the barrel and the extra charge won't give it enough of a boost to matter. Anyone done tests to confirm either way?

I just got my bhp out of lay away today , I dont have a concealed carry pistol yet just one I keep under the seat . What do you guys think about the bhp in 9mm as a ccw ? This gun fits my hand like a glove I can't wait to shoot it this afternoon ,I know it has to be proven reliable first but i'm assuming it is .Any other BHP fans out there ?

Ok how many of you have a reverse recoil system on your 1911? How many of you run a bushing-less system? What do you feel the advantage is over a standard 1911 recoil system?
