OK! I know there are a lot of you who may say wrong decision. I purchased the Hornady AP press for several reasons. The first of which is the bullet rebate. My press cost about $375.00 from Midsouth Shooters Supply. The retail price on the bullets I am getting is $300.00 (1,000 45 Cal bullets for 21.95 shipping/handling). So, basically my press costs about $100.00 after I get the 1,000 "free" bullets. Second, Hornady now has a good case feeder that is more economical than the ...

I went to the range today to begin my load work for my SuperRedhawk and my Ruger M77 338Win mag. Good beginning day.

For the 44 mag as far as I am concerned it is very straight forward. I use a Cast Performance Heat Treated 320gr WLNGC - LBT design and lube, in front of 22grs of H110, Starline brass and 350 CCI primer.

Six rounds at 25yds moving at 1390fps on average and group is 1.306"

I've seen crimp measurements given (ex .379) on some other forums

To be truthful, I aint really sure how I measure crimp...All I have avialble is a digital dial caliper...so do I just measure the outside diameter at the tip of the case after the bullet is seated?

I'm sure I'm making this harder than it needs to be...I'm sure most of you do it by "eyeball"

My main interest is in reloading 9mm, 40S&W, .45acp, and .223.

What model would ya'll recommend?

How difficult to change calibers?

How do the Dillons react to cast bullets (all I use in pistols)?

What other accessories are a "must have"?

Hi guys I bought some Rem 6 1/2 primers that on box says small rifle primers. Now I hear from some people that these were designed for 22 hornet and other rimmed cartridges. They further say that Remington put the notice on the boxes. Well I have 3 boxes of these with no disclaimer. Now can anyone tell me is it okay to use in a .223 or not? I can't imagine Remington making a primer that says "small rifle primer" that can't be used for a .223, it just doesn't make any sense. All comments ...

With as many folks as we seem to have on the forum you'd think we could get together a group buy. This is especially helpful when buying cast bullets at places like Precision Delta in Ruleville, MS...

Liked them so much that we (my son reloads) bought a box of bullets from factory and did some handloads in 30-30 and 308. Great results. About out, company out of business. Anybody have any they would part with or know of anything comparable? Thanks, Bruce.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I notice that a lot of internet suppliers are out of small pistol primers while they have small pistol magnum primers.....ex Remington 5 1/2 instead of Remington 1 1/2....I have 5 1/2 (magnum) but no 1 1/2's..... Can these be used in standard loads? What would be the change in the bullet charge since the primer will add pressure? ...

Since 'neck and I purchased the Mosin Nagant 91/30s awhile back, I have been thinking of trying some cast boolits in it. Ran across a group buy for a custom made mould that looked really good. It is a 123gr (.314), gas checked, SP type boolit. Being .314, it is my intentions to use it in the Mosin, AKs, SKSs, and should be able to size it down to .309 or .310 for use in most of my .30cals. The mould arrived the other day and boy am I pleased ...

On another thread i'm trying to determine if no "strike" in the primer on 9mm ammo is a result of a "flattened primer" or some other issue from a Glock

i'm starting to doubt that this is my problem....but I don't really know yet

Someone post me some pics of shot pistol brass primers...reading primers is more of an art than I science

2. Starting to show high pressure

3. High pressure

4. Flattened

.308 Win vs. 7.62x51--The Straight Scoop

Before we go much further, we want to address the oft-posed question "Are the .308 Winchester and 7.62x51 NATO one and the same?" The simple answer is no. There are differences in chamber specs and maximum pressures. The SAMMI/CIP maximum pressure for the .308 Win cartridge is 62,000 psi, while the 7.62x51 max is 50,000 psi. ...

A person I know bought some Conley 225gr Accubond ammo for the 358Win and he said they fit in his Ruger M77 magazine and they shot good.

Well if you buy a box of Conley ammo it comes to 66.00 and after shipping and handling you spend 90.00 a box. Well that comes to 4.50 a round. NO way Hosea!!!!!!

I measured my magazine and it is 2.935" and Conley's fix OAL is 2.820". So, since my Ruger M77 can handle the 225gr Accubond a box of Nosler Accubonds is on the way.

Now what ...

How to Remove crimped primers from 223 Federal brass?

I just read an article in my NRA magazine about reloading the 223. It mentioned that commercially produced Federal 223 ammo had crimped primers. I bought about 500 from Wal-mart with intentions of reloading them after they were once fired. After reading the article, I opened a box of the Federal and compared them with some Winchester soft point rounds I have. The primer area is different on the Federal. I did a search on the topic and found that some use a special tool for primer removal, and ...

Need to crank up the production big time.

I started out with a Lee press 20 yrs ago...It's been fine up until now...It just takes too long for me to make any ammo.

Best I can crank out is about 700 rds in a week...I'm running as a single stage...I'm scared of the auto disk powder measure cause I had a squib load in a revo one time...so now I drop every load with a Lee perfect powder measure and weigh every 15 or so.....and then I check every case for powder in a loading block with a ...

Ok so I am off on mondays and have had a few local cops asking to see some fired ranger bullets so I got bored today and decided to sling some bullets. I am shooting them out of a 5inch kimber, my loads are 230gr +p rangers. My testing media was one jackson phone book infront of my homemade balistics gel.

brace your self for this crap!

OMG the first two shots had ZERO expansion! The third shot looked aweful and the core was almost seperated from the jacket. The last two shots were ok at ...
