im thinking of doing some customization to the finish on my 1911 (see avatar) by making the top of my SS slide and the areas in the bottoms of the slide serrations black in order to reduce glare and look cool (in respective order) i was considering using wheeler cerama-cote or something similar to do so

i was also planning on using masking tape and an xacto knife to mark off areas then painting and baking...does anyone have better suggestions since i honestly dont know what the hell im doing

I remember not that long ago I used to "cringe" when someone dry fired a weapon.

Now I don't give it a second thought. So what I'd like to discuss is why or why not dry fire a weapon?

I guess we might need to clarify the weapon type. Maybe the older Colt SA revolvers or antique guns should NOT be dry fired...while something like a modern Glock or Springfield XDM would not matter? How about Bolt guns...I always dry fire my bolt guns before putting them up so that the springs ...

You need to make one of these simple tools...

This particular one is made out of about a 20 penny nail. Basically, you stick the tool through the hole where the takedown pin goes from the left side of the receiver. Insert the spring and detent through the hole in the tool and into the receiver. You will have to get something small enough to go through the hole to compress the spring. (I used a drill bit) Next, simply turn the tool 90 degrees and the pin is held in. Then just line the takedown ...

The rifle in question is a handi rifle. Also is anyone aware of someone that could do this in the hattiesburg area or at least close and what the cost would be. Thanks in advance.

I need a stock that will fit a 20 ga. Remington 1100 Magnum. This gun fires 2 3/4", as well as 3" magnum shells. I would prefer a factory original with diamond on grip cap, but that may be like finding a needle in a haystack. My next preference would be a camo composite, if one is available to fit this particular shotgun model. Then I would need to replace both butt stock as well as the forearm. Either way, I don't really care. Can anyone steer me to someone that would know what I need? ...

Questions....

(1) If I get a standard glock factory barrel....Does it require any fitting or "smithing"

(2) If I get a Bar-Sto or other brand that "fully supports the case"...same question actually...Is it a drop in barrel or does it require fitting?

Both KKM and Glock factory say they are "drop in"...

Bar-Sto says "semi-drop in" and a match target....

Interesting that ...
